Holiday Pay Entitlement
For several years all UK full time employees have been entitled to a minimum of 28 days paid annual leave per year. Part time employees entitlement is similar, hence a part time employee who works two and half days a week, would be entitled to a minimum of 14 days paid holiday. The 28 days includes bank holidays.
The underlying concept of the amount paid, is that employees holiday pay should mirror what they would have earned had they been working.
Computations of holiday pay can become complex in today’s modern workplace, with employees on zero hour contracts etc. Recent research suggests around 1.8 million employees do not receive the correct holiday pay.
