HMRC Considering Mandating DD for VAT and PAYE

HMRC have stated that they are considering the mandating of payment of PAYE and VAT by Direct Debit.

The advantage of this move, would be to force businesses to make the payments which they should be making to HMRC.

The significant downside to this proposal is that it relies on HMRC having the correct balance on their systems for the amounts owed. Our experience with dealing with HMRC, is that this is not always the case.
