In another step to move away from a standardised UK taxation system, Northern Ireland will be setting a corporation tax rate at a level considerably lower than that of the rest of the UK.

It seems probable that the corporation tax rate in Northern Ireland will be 12.5%, compared the current rate of 20% in the rest of the UK. This change is scheduled to tale place in April 2017.

The change is in response to a lower rate of corporation tax being charged in the Republic of Ireland, where the rate is currently 12.5%.
